The Importance of Dance
This Week: 7pm, Thursday 16th of May - The Drawing Room at the Glenmore Hotel
The next event is the Importance of Dance, where we will be joined by Argentine Tango Dancer (when she is not editor of Quillette) Iona Italia and contact improv teacher Eamonn O’Flaherty. Both Iona and Eamonn are bringing friends that are fellow dancers so it is sure to be an interesting discussion.
If you want a taste of Iona’s dancing you can be viewed here. She also often appears on podcasts to talk about dance and Argentine Tango specifically. One of my favourite of these - and was in part an inspiration for this event - can be listened to here.
If you want introduction to contact improv you can watch some of Eamonn’s Body Chorus videos like this, and also this one which feature both dance and chats about the experience of dancing contact improv.
Please note the next event will be in the Drawing Room (the one next to the Club Room). The reason for the change is that it has more floor space for demonstrations.
